Our program year came to a close on May 3rd with an overwhelmingly successful, dare I say synergystic, joint meeting on Fraud with Infragard! Tracey Bray, Michael Hartman, and Scott Sutherland kept the Fraud information topical and interesting on a sunny Monday in May. Our year included other great programs, too, including Auditing Unix, Safeguarding Citizen Data, Integrating COBIT into Your IT Audit Process and Organization, and Data Loss Prevention.
I'd like to thank the Board members for their contributions to the success of the Chapter this year. Their efforts reflected an unparalleled level of dedication, in view of their career responsibilities and concurrent events in their lives. First, I would like to thank Joe Auchey for his contributions in facilitating a new look for the Chapter's award-winning Web site. Joe and the board worked together through a series of challenges to arrive at an aesthetically pleasing site. Congratulations Joe for all your hard work!
Huge thanks also to Chuck Gerst, Scott Moody, and Megan Keys for stepping up to assist the chapter in mid-year to fill-in for unexpected departures. The Chapter achieved an all-time record for membership, approaching the 200 mark! Doug Wise, Treasurer, did his best to keep us on track financially. Patti Locke, Secretary, and Rita Oravic, Arrangements Director, not only fulfilled their duties of office, but happily supported Chapter activities in many ways during the program year. Finally, Karl Krohn, Education Director, provided us with some outstanding speakers and interesting topics to edify ourselves and our membership.
Having enjoyed their tenure in office, Karl, Joe, Doug, and Patti are returning for more! June 30th is the last meeting or our 2009/2010-year. It is also our annual general meeting for the chapter when we elect new Harrisburg Chapter ISACA board members. If anyone is interested in participating or nominating someone for the board please contact Patti Locke at 717-302-2334. It will be held from 2-4 pm at TJ Rockwells in Elizabethtown. No CPEs are awarded but chapter activities and planning are reviewed and prepared for the coming year. All members are free to join!
Spring is here, and at any age, our minds turn to avocations other than audit training. But, even if you garden, vacation, participate in summer sports, or other seasonal activities, I urge you to ruminate on how your Chapter can better serve you, and make suggestions to Board members on how we can improve. While we've come a long way, there is still a long way to go.
Lastly, but importantly, Chapter dues will not go up again this year! We will make membership, certification support activities, and our educational programs a better bargain than ever.
Between innings, seashore getaways, and malt beverages, and working on the perfect tan, navigate to the shiny, new homepage over the summer for our line-up of programs. Here at the Chapter, we'll keep the lights on for you so you won't be disappointed in the Fall. See you in September.
